We have added a fleet of trailer-mounted, mobile nitrogen generators capable of producing nitrogen in the field. Each unit is capable of exceeding our onsite needs for nitrogen applications.
PFL offers nitrogen services during the flare process, allowing pressurization to move products quickly through the flare stack. We can also use nitrogen to purge railcars when required during the flare process.
PFL offers nitrogen pad services regardless of whether we are involved in the cleaning or flaring service, and we have performed this service many times for third parties on a subcontracted basis.
Nitrogen pads are commonly used to control moisture within a tank car, helping protect against tank corrosion, chemical oxidation, fire, and explosion.

Nitrogen can be expensive to bring onsite; PFL and FFR solved this issue by generating nitrogen on site. The nitrogen can be used to purge contents from a pressure car or used after cleaning to apply a nitrogen blanket to greatly reduce oxygen in the Tank Car, making it safe for reloading hydrocarbons and helping to protect your assets.

- Nitrogen Purge: Nitrogen purging during the flare process allows for pressurization to move products quickly through the flare stack.
- Nitrogen Blankets: Nitrogen blankets are used to control moisture within a tank car to protect against tank corrosion and chemical oxidation as well as reduce oxygen that could lead to explosions.
Alternatively, nitrogen blankets can be used to “pad” products after loading, creating a layer of nitrogen gas above the liquid product in the tank car and reducing the load’s exposure to moisture.
Empty railcars can also be nitrogen padded before storage to replace oxygen inside the car, reducing the risk of fire or explosion.
