The implied value was US$60.14 per barrel.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">U.S. commercial crude oil inventories<\/span><\/strong> (excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve) <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">decreased by 1 million barrels<\/span><\/strong> week-over-week. Total carloads for the week ending on January 8th were 315,438, down (-1.45%) compared with the same week in 2024, while weekly intermodal volume was 272,556, up (4.98%) compared to the same week in 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6 of the AAR\u2019s 11 major traffic categories posted year-over-year decreases. The largest decrease came from Metallic Ores and Metals, which was down (-8.53%) while the largest increase came from Chemicals which was up (7.68%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the East,<strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CSX\u2019s total volumes were down (-3.24%)<\/span>, <\/strong>with the largest decrease coming from Motor Vehicles and Parts (-22.94%), while the only increase came from Grain (20.47%). <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NS\u2019s volumes were down (-0.87%)<\/span>, <\/strong>with the largest decrease coming from Motor Vehicles and Parts (-22.14%), while the largest increase came from Coal (9.56%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the West, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BN\u2019s total volumes were up (3.3%)<\/span>, <\/strong>with the largest decrease coming from Coal, down (-7.23%), while the largest increase came from Chemicals (12.17%). <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UP\u2019s total rail volumes were up (6.87%)<\/span> <\/strong>with the largest decrease coming from Coal, down (-14.46%), while the largest increase came from Intermodal Units (17.94%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Canada,<strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CN\u2019s total rail volumes were down (-9.22%)<\/span> <\/strong>with the largest decrease coming from Other, down (-37.31%), while the largest increase came from Nonmetallic Minerals, up (+45.741%).<strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CP\u2019s total rail volumes were down (-13.68%)<\/span> <\/strong>with the largest increase coming from Motor Vehicles and Parts (+56.75%), while the largest decrease came from Farm Products (-28.86%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">KCS\u2019s total rail volumes were up (23.94%)<\/span> <\/strong>with the largest decrease coming from Other (-28.28%) and the largest increase coming from Motor Vehicles and Parts (+180.61%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><strong>Source Data: AAR &#8211; PFL Analytics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color\" id=\"rig-count\"><strong><u>Rig Count<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>North American rig count was up by 117 rigs week-over-week.
